Privacy and cookies
Meaningful Games runs without trackers, advertising or analytics. This page explains what little the site stores, why no cookie banner is shown, and what happens when you write to the editorial team.
Why there is no cookie banner
EU and UK rules (the ePrivacy Directive and GDPR) require consent for cookies that are not strictly necessary for a service you asked for. Meaningful Games sets only two optional preference cookies, and only after you explicitly choose a theme or a language. Preferences you set yourself count as a service you requested, so no consent dialog is needed. If analytics or advertising are ever added, this page and the site will change first.
What the site stores on your device
mg-locale (cookie)
Only set when you choose a language in the header. Sends the site entry page straight to that language on your next visit. Kept for one year.
What the site does not do
- No analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels, no fingerprinting, no A/B tools.
- No third-party fonts loaded at view time: type is served from this site.
- No accounts, no comments, no forms; the site does not ask for your name or email.
- Game trailers on hover use YouTube's privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com), which does not set tracking cookies before you interact with the video.
- Store links (Steam, App Store, Google Play and others) open the store's own site; their privacy terms apply there.
- Store links carry utm_source=meaningfulgames tags so the store can see the visit came from here; the tags hold no personal data.
Server logs and email
Like any web server, the hosting provider records standard request logs (IP address, requested page, browser type, time) for security and to keep the site running. They are not used to profile readers and are deleted on the normal schedule of the hosting provider.
If you email the editorial team at info@meaningfulgames.com, your message and address are kept only as long as needed to answer and to keep a record of corrections.
